HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Hopkinsville Rotary Club kicked off the second night of their 74th annual auction with a bang by already raising $229,868.13.
On April 23, over 100 items were sold, including gift cards, car services, massages, bourbon from local distilleries. Local elementary, middle and high schools presented money they raised, totaling $79,129.60. Gateway Academy’s contribution put the schools at just over $80,000.
In 2023, the Rotary Club raised $520,000, and in 2022 they raised more than $530,000. Rotary Auction Chairman Kelly Gates explains the reason the rotary auction exists is because of the students. “Your donations are where careers are born,” Gates said. “We wish all of the students well on their purposeful path.”
The Rotary Auction will continue tonight at the War Memorial Building, 1202 S. Virginia Street. at 6 p.m. and will run through Saturday or until all items are sold. Donations can be made on Rotary Club of Hopkinsville website. To bid on an item, visit in person, stream online, or call BID- 885- 7500. The Rotary diner is open today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
