HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – After rescheduling for inclement weather, the highly anticipated fishing event Cops and Bobbers is set to return on Saturday, June 22 at Lake Morris.

“It’s quite simple really, show up and fish, eat some hot dogs and burgers and just hang out,” said Royale Marfil, Hopkinsville Police Department spokesperson.

Cops and Bobbers was created by HPD Chief Jason Newby as an event to show people in the community, especially the youth, that people have more in common with police officers than they may think.

“It’s a new community event,” Marfil added. “Everybody in town fishes and what’s a better way to spend a summer morning than to fish with Hoptown’s finest.”

Lake Morris is a popular fishing spot right outside of Hopkinsville and spans over 100 acres. Each day, the police department opens its gates at 7 a.m. and closes them at 7 p.m. to ensure the safety of the community. Although fishing is allowed at the lake, there is no swimming, camping, or hunting permitted.

Cops and Bobbers will begin at 7 a.m. and run until noon.
