HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Jeffers Bend Environmental Center celebrated its most successful fundraiser, Benefit for the Bend, on June 15, raising $33,000.
Co-owner Charles Turner had set a goal of $32,000 for this year’s event, surpassing last year’s achievement of over $30,000 raised over several months.
The effort had support from the Pennyrile RC&D Area Council, Jeffers Bend Steering Committee and community members, and through initiatives such as the fundraising dinner, letter campaign and two grants.

The funds will be instrumental in undertaking various improvements at Jeffers Bend, including enhancements to the welcome center, porch repairs and the construction of an additional storage building, according to Turner.
“Additionally, the funds raised will be used to support the six events, and field days for students at the center,” Turner said.
Jeffers Bend is a 50-acre sanctuary featuring a lake, gardens, hiking trails and expansive greenspaces amid historic 1800s farmhouses and buildings.
