HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Young artists have the chance to see their creativity realized with the HFD’s shield design contest.
Children in sixth grade or younger have until Sept. 15 to submit their own unique design of a Hopkinsville Fire Department shield that is displayed on the front of firefighter helmets. The winner of the contest will receive a real fire helmet with their own design on the front.
The department is excited for the first year of this contest, and it comes just in time for National Fire Prevention Month in October. Fire Chief Steve Futrell will present the designed helmet to the winner, and the department hopes the contest will get young students interested in Fire Prevention.
Submissions can be dropped off at Hopkinsville Fire Department Headquarters located at 112 Phillip Meacham Way or emailed to payton.rogers@h-ky.us. You can find the template for the submission on the Hopkinsville Fire Department website, and download the “Design-A-Shield” PDF from the homepage.
