HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – On Tuesday afternoon, Christian County Public Schools along with the CCPS Education Foundation opened the Teacher Corner, a supply store just for teachers to grab classroom essentials utilizing a points system.
The Teacher Corner holds materials like markers, folders, paper, tissues, and other classroom items set at a point scale. It will be open for the first two weeks of school and again in January, according to CCPS Executive Director Angie Major.
“Each teacher will get 20 points and hopefully after Christmas we want to increase that as donations increase, just because the cost of supplies is so out of pocket for teachers,” said Tracy Pelletier, Foundation Treasurer.
The Teacher Corner is located behind the Martin Luther King Jr. Early Learning Center, 313 Blane Drive. People in the community can help keep the store stocked by dropping off supplies and monetary donations at the central office.
“Our teachers do enough every single day throughout the school year to provide a safe, highly engaging learning environment for our students, this is one more thing we can take off their plate to make sure they are effective in the classroom,” Superintendent Chris Bentzel previously told Christian County Now.
