HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) –On Sept. 3, Hopkinsville Police officers arrested a 25-year-old man who crashed his vehicle into a brick wall and attempted to escape on foot.
Officers initiated a traffic stop at West 14th Street and South Virginia on a vehicle with a non-illuminated license plate, said a police report. Instead of pulling over, the driver proceeded to accelerate his vehicle, going through a red light at South Virginia Street and East Ninth Street, reaching speeds up to 70 mph in a 35 mph zone.
The driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a brick wall at the parking lot of the Colonial Motel, destroying the wall. The suspect jumped out of the car and fled on foot where he was soon apprehended by officers.
He was charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, improper turning, rear license not illuminated, disregarding traffic light, speeding, reckless driving, and first-degree criminal mischief.
