HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Trail of Tears Commemorative Park in Hopkinsville was alive with Native American culture this weekend as the 37th Annual Trail of Tears Pow Wow took place. According to ticket takers on Sunday, over 3,000 people attended over the two days and multiple tribes from across the country were represented.

Dance competitions for all ages were held, with cash prizes being awarded to musicians and performers. Dozens of vendors selling unique native items and food were set up as visitors purchased items like handmade flutes, delicious Indian tacos and fry bread. Dancers ceremonially entered the circle for grand entry to kick of the competition, engaging the crowd in Native songs and prayer.
