HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Young artists in the area are invited to show off their creativity with the Hopkinsville Fire Department shield design contest.
Children 10 years or younger are encouraged to participate to design a shield, using a template provided by HFD. Participants have until Sept. 27 to submit their own unique design.
Payton Rogers with HFD says the department is excited to host this contest for the second time, as it was created as an outreach opportunity with the community for October being National Fire Prevention Month. “It’s a great way to get kids talking about fire safety in a fun and unique way and we’re always happy to partner with our local schools,” said Rogers.
Rogers says firefighters typically choose their top five designs which will be presented to the winners on a real fire shield in October.
Submissions can be dropped off at Hopkinsville Fire Department Headquarters located at 112 Phillip Meacham way or emailed to payton.rogers@h-ky.us.
