HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Christian County School Board approved several change orders and received construction updates on the consolidated Christian County High School at their board meeting Thursday night.
“We are in a really good position heading into winter and have made a lot of exciting progress,” said Kevin Hitchell with Alliance Corporation.
He continued to share with board members that the roofing in the southern half of the building including in the commons area, auxiliary gym, agriculture academy, and the engineering academy has been installed and dried in. “I do not anticipate that the entirety of the building will be dried in before the winter, but we’re not scheduled to reach that milestone until next year,” added Hitchell.
The board approved 11 construction change orders, ultimately resulting in a net deduction of $15,464.09. The change orders pertained to lawn seeding, a landscaping bid, and vapor barriers in the auxiliary gym roof.
Finance Director Jessica Darnell shared that the district has now paid 40% of the cost of construction for the school. This month, Alliance Corporation was paid $5.1 million, and Hafer Architects was paid just over $35,000. Tim Geegan Vice President of Alliance Corporation says Hafer is very involved in the project, and they continue to clarify any issues that come up. The high school’s construction is still on track for Fall 2026.
