HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The community is invited to attend an information session on Oct. 30 with the Jennie Stuart Health Board of Trustees, in response to the announcement of the hospital merging with Deaconess Health. The meeting will be held in the Cotthoff Learning Center at 6 p.m. at JSMC.

In a letter written by Leslie Carroll, Chair of the Jennie Stuart Board of Trustees, she states the board is guided by their duty to support the health system’s critical role in the community and says it is a responsibility they do not take lightly.

Carroll highlights the challenges that non-profit health systems are facing, saying that Jennie Stuart is not immune to these issues. “While leadership works diligently to navigate a difficult operating environment, our system lacks the financial resources necessary to make much
needed investments in the capabilities and technologies required of a modern health system,” she said.

Over the last year, the board has considered a list of potential partnerships and other strategic initiatives that could create a stronger future for Jennie Stuart, in which Deaconess was considered an ideal partner.

“We recognize change can bring uncertainty and know that we can and should do more to communicate why this is the best path forward for Jennie Stuart,” said Carroll.
