HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Registration is now open for Hopkinsville’s 23rd annual Turkey Trot. Runners, walkers, bikers, skaters, and even pets are encouraged to participate.
The Turkey Trot is a free 5K race that begins and finishes in Downtown Hopkinsville, according to a news release from Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation. The race begins at 8 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday Nov. 28. The race will begin on South Main Street and wind through parts of downtown and the Hopkinsville Greenway Trail.
Race participants are encouraged to register online at hoptownrec.com, even though the race is free. Souvenir race shirts are $25 and the deadline to guarantee the correct sized race shirt is Nov. 15. All proceeds from shirt sales will go to benefit the Hopkinsville Greenway Rail Trail.
The Turkey Trot is a longstanding community tradition for families and many individuals in Christian County. Over the last twenty years, the annual event has attracted over 1,000 participants, according to Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Department.
