HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Jeffrey Littlefield, a long-time ambassador for Challenge House #7 in Hopkinsville, has set a personal goal of distributing over 1,000 meals this Thanksgiving alongside local churches and volunteers.
“My mission as a Challenge House ambassador is to love my neighbors,” said Littlefield. “This is just one thing that we can do to come together.”

Littlefield first got the idea to coordinate meals through Challenge House during the COVID-19 lockdown and was able to feed over 100 people. The next year, they deep fried turkeys and served up plates for over 600 people. In 2023, things shifted as he battled health issues, but this year he is healthy and determined to serve 1,200 plates with other volunteers in the community.
He told Christian County Now that Challenge House’s ability to serve larger numbers came when they partnered with First Baptist Church in Hopkinsville, which allows them access to a full commercial kitchen. They continue to partner with more churches in the area including The Bridge, Edgewood Baptist Church, and Mccarrol Baptist Church.
What’s on the plate
In a true community effort, they have partnered with local food suppliers and stores to get the best ingredients. Littlefield continually emphasized that this could not be possible without the support of the community saying, “This is all about just wanting to help.”
Each individual meal will include a good portion of turkey, dressing, green beans, yams, mashed potatoes, gravy, a roll, and dessert. With a personal passion for food and previous catering experience, he is excited for people to be able to taste what they have planned. “I can guarantee the turkey will be good and it will be cooked with care,” he added. “That day, it’s all about quality.”
Food will be distributed in a drive through manner on Thanksgiving Day on Main Street. For people who are unable to drive out, they will be delivering food directly to retirement facilities or are homebound, while also delivering directly to organizations like Sanctuary Inc, Trilogy, and Coffee Connection.
Registration is necessary beforehand so volunteers can prepare the correct amount of food. People can register online through Nov. 23 at fbchopkinsville.com/gobble or email givegobble@gmail.com.
