HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Book & Bottle Shop in Hopkinsville held its ribbon cutting on Nov.12, officially opening the doors for book and wine lovers across the area. Along with books, this unique store is also a wine bar with a menu containing small plates, appetizers, and charcuterie.
Rachel Sanders is the owner of the brand-new bookstore and has been developing the concept for the last two years while simultaneously working with Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation. Construction began in May of 2024, with the final touches going up earlier this week with a hand painted sign displaying the name.
“I’m overwhelmed, it’s absolutely perfect,” said Sanders who was visibly emotional as dozens of people flooded into the store after the ribbon cutting, with a line forming around the block. “We are so grateful for absolutely every single person that participated in helping get this space renovated,” she said.
Sanders previously told Christian County Now that opening the store was a childhood dream of hers, with a particular eye on the historic building at the corner of East Ninth Street and South Virginia Street in downtown Hopkinsville.
The walls are lined with a variety of new and old books of various genres, with a used and children’s section as well. “The new books are very highly curated, I’ve selected them individually based on our customers taste,” Sanders added.
The Book & Bottle Shop is located on the corner of East Ninth and South Virginia Street, connected to the Clayton’s building. They will be open from 11 a.m.- 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
