HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – As 2024 comes to an end, Christian County Now is turning back the clock to share a dozen favorite local news stories from the year.

1. Buc-ee’s announces plan for new location on Interstate 24 in Oak Grove, Kentucky

Buc-ee’s is coming to Oak Grove Kentucky a company representative told the City Council at their meeting Tuesday night, bringing about 200 jobs and a surge in local tax revenue. READ MORE

3. Dancing Darlings shine at Christian County senior center for weekly line dancing class

Every Tuesday, the Dancing Darlings strap on their dancing shoes as Dixie Majors teaches them the latest steps, and Deana Power provides the tunes. READ MORE

4. Men 2 Be empowers black youth in Hopkinsville with life skills and mentorship

6. Christian County magistrate joyfully curates weddings at Chapel of Love

7. Hopkinsville Boys & Girls Club unveils new teen center

The FabLab gives teens access to 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC woodworking, screen printing, audio and video production, podcasting, and graphic design. “Everything in this teen center and new FabLab was designed by the kids and for the kids,” said Terrence Davis, Executive Director. “It’s an amazing 2,000 square feet for kids full of technology and opportunity.” READ MORE

8. ‘This is the fellowship of the sewing needle’: Hopkinsville sewing group extends beyond crafts

Every Friday, a group of women gather at the Christian County Extension Office to sew. Each woman becomes an artist creating her own beautiful and colorful pieces all while enjoying the camaraderie and company of one another. READ MORE

10. Monica Mayo builds hope for abandoned mastiffs in Hopkinsville

Monica Mayo launched Moving Mountains for Mastiffs, a local nonprofit and rescue organization in 2017. She had the idea after a personal encounter with rescuing a puppy whose father had been abandoned in a high-kill shelter.  READ MORE
