Updated 4:24 p.m.: In person learning is cancelled for students who attend Christian County Public Schools on Friday, Jan. 10. Students will work remotely, utilizing NTI Day #3. Parents can reach out to their child’s teacher via ParentSquare for directions or assistance with NTI assignments, according to CCPS.
Inspire Early Learning Academy will also be closed and all events and extracurricular activities for Friday have been canceled. Any changes to events and athletics scheduled for this weekend will be determined closer to the date.

HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The snow alert from the National Weather Service has been upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning, from midnight Thursday through midnight Friday.
“If you don’t have to be out, don’t be out and stay off the roads. If you do have to get out, just drive very slowly and be very cautious,” Hopkinsville Police Chief Jason Newby told Christian County Now.
Roads will get slick, and travel conditions are expected to become hazardous for Friday morning and evening commutes. It is recommended to travel with a flashlight, food, and extra water in case of an emergency.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will be spending Thursday pretreating roads throughout District 2 and in Christian County. They are asking motorists to stay off the roads if possible, “Motorists are urged to exercise safe driving practices if they must be out while KYTC snowfighting crews work to keep main roads clear and maintain critical routes for emergency responders.”

Here’s when snow is expected in Christian County.
Thursday night: A 20 percent chance of snow after 2am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 24. Calm wind.
Friday: Snow. High near 32. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
Friday night: A 50 percent chance of snow before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. Calm wind becoming west northwest around 6 mph after midnight.
Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 33. West wind 5 to 7 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon.
Warming shelter
Anyone needing a place to stay warm is welcome at Hopkinsville Salvation Army’s EWE White Flag Shelter, located at 701 S. Clay Street. It will remain operational as temperatures stay at or below 25 degrees. It is open from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
The Center of Hope Shelter, located at 301 East 7 Street will also be open with extended hours.
