HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Amy Rogers, Executive Director of Visit Hopkinsville is gearing up for another exciting year with the hopes of elevating several key events and also introducing new ones.
Having been in her role for less than a year, Rogers credits community support she’s received to make everything possible. “I continue to push for so many different initiatives for different genres whether its sporting, meeting and conventions, batter…for me it is all about taking things to another level for our community,” she told Christian County Now.
As director, she is constantly thinking of new ideas to bring to the area with a goal of shattering tourism numbers from previous years. “I would love to bring in a Batter Festival,” she said. “It would be like Summer Salute but nothing is written in the books just yet.”
New ideas, new events
This year, Rogers hopes to embrace the Battler Capital title even more and continue building a relationship with Hopkinsville’s sister city Carentan, France. “We have some great things lined up to enhance and expand our sister city relationship,” said Rogers. “One day I hope to send our children from here, there. We have so many possibilities ahead.”
On the batter side of things, she plans to implement a pancake competition and offer batter capital tours in the Visit Hopkinsville bus affectionately nicknamed Sasha. “If I have to get in an alien costume or bee costume to make things happen, I will do it. That’s what this whole thing means to me. Hopkinsville is my heart and soul, there is nothing ‘batter’ than that!” said Rogers.
Last year, Rogers revived interest around the Kelly Green Men encounter with Alien Invasion Day. She said the event was a great success and is excited to bring it back for a second year. She plans to continue to lean toward the paranormal with the arrival of GoblinCon in October 2025. The UFO and Paranormal Expo will take place over two days at The Bruce drawing visitors from all over. The event promises to amplify the area’s supernatural allure in collaboration with the owners of The Knight House.
“We will have vendors, a great lineup of guest speakers, food trucks, extra-curricular activities, and really just hoping to drop the mic so to say,” Rogers told Christian County Now. “It is new and different and unique, and we have that story to tell,” she added.
On the sports side, the Southern Pickleball Association is travelling to the Jennie Stuart Sportsplex in March to bring Big Dill in the Ville. Rogers says Hopkinsville can be a sports destination and is expecting lots of visitors.
“It means the world to me that I am a part of Hopkinsville and I get to showcase our community,” said Rogers. To keep up to date on events, follow Visit Hopkinsville on Facebook or call 270-887-2300.
