HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A man was arrested after damaging a structure at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church on East Ninth Street last week.

A police report was filed with HPD by the church on Jan. 29 at 7 a.m. detailing that suspect inflicted $20,000 worth of damage to an outdoor statue of Mary located right outside the church. They were able to supply surveillance video of the suspect to law enforcement, but no immediate arrests were made.

A few days later on Feb. 3, a warrant was served for a 26-year-old man in connection to the vandalism. He is being charged with criminal mischief in the first degree and was arrested by Hopkinsville Police.

Until repairs can be made, the statue is currently covered by a tarp.
