HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Another 2-5 inches of rain expected to fall this weekend on already saturated ground in Christian County, leading to a Flood Watch from midnight Friday through noon Sunday.

There’s also a chance of thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service. “Flooding issues may arise, especially in low-lying, flood prone areas. There likely will be a lot of standing water in yards and fields, along with full ditches,” the NWS said.

Here’s the day-by-day outlook.

  • Friday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 44. East southeast wind 5 to 8 mph.
  • Friday night: Showers after midnight. Low around 37. South wind 6 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
  • Saturday: Showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 59. South wind 8 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%.
  • Saturday night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 30. South southwest wind 8 to 13 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%.
  • Sunday: A slight chance of rain and snow showers before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. Northwest wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
  • Sunday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 15. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
