HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A Christian County inmate who escaped from custody in 2024 has been apprehended by Madisonville Police.

52-year-old Kevin D. Johnson of Madisonville was an inmate at Christian County Jail who escaped from a work detail at the Bruce Convention Center in Hopkinsville on Dec. 28.

He was located during a traffic stop on Monday, Feb. 17 at the intersection of North Main Street and Pebble Creek Drive in Madisonville, according to a news release. Johnson was a passenger in the car when police identified him.

Johnson was arrested and is facing additional charges related to the escape, as well as a warrant out of Hopkins County. He is now being held at the Hopkins County Detention Center.
