HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A woman was arrested and charged after fleeing from the Hopkinsville Police in a stolen vehicle on Feb. 24.

Officers were dispatched to a theft in progress call just after 10:30 p.m. at a residence on West Second Street in reference to a vehicle that had been stolen from the driveway. The stolen vehicle was located by a Christian County Sheriff’s Office deputy travelling on Old Madisonville Road.

HPD intercepted and initiated a traffic stop when the 39-year-old suspect fled at speeds of 80 mph down Old Madisonville Road, heading towards the intersection of Eagle Way Bypass. Additional officers on scene deployed spikes, which hit the woman’s vehicle slowing her down. She eventually lost a tire and slammed on her brakes causing a HPD K9 unit to collide with the rear end of the vehicle.

Officers had to break the passenger side window to remove the suspect who reportedly resisted arrest. A search of the vehicle produced a baggie containing meth and drug paraphernalia.

She was arrested and charged with fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, drug paraphernalia, criminal mischief, stealing a vehicle and driving on a suspended license.
