HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – With so many chain restaurants around Hopkinsville, it’s hard to forget about all of the amazing local offering throughout the city who are putting their own spin on a classic hamburger.

Davo’s

First opening their doors in 2012 on 3115 Canton Street, their menu and following has continued to grow in the area. With a trivia night every Tuesday, they are a determined to establish themselves as the hometown hangout spot to grab a delicious bite.

Davo’s currently has nearly a dozen burgers on their menu, with the option of people ordering their own creations. All of their patties are made from fresh, never frozen meat that was purchased locally at Hampton Meats in Hopkinsville. Their massive El Grande Burger is stacked with a patty, chicken tenders, an egg, and onion rings, while they also offer a Sunsrise, Aloha, and Southwestern burger.

Holiday Burgers

This diner style restaurant first opened in 1967. After being owned by several different people, in 2015, Charlie and Sherry Powell moved from Memphis, TN to begin the adventure awaiting them at Holiday Burgers in Hopkinsville.

Located at 3806 Lafayette Road in Hopkinsville, Holiday Burgers is offering over a dozen burgers on their menu. People can try the Hopper Burger with pimento cheese, an Eclipse Burger which is topped with a fried egg, or something simple like a mushroom and swiss or double cheeseburger.

Ferrell’s Snappy Service

The 100-year-old burger stop in downtown Hopkinsville has been attracting visitors for a century with their no-frills approach to a classic hamburger. With limited bar seating available, people pack the restaurant on a daily basis to grab a meal.

Ferrell’s gained new ownership in 2021, when Ches Hill, grandson of family friends to original owners Carolyn and Phillip Ferrell, bought the business. Since becoming owner, Hill has made few changes to the beloved restaurant. The most popular items at Ferrell’s are the cheeseburgers that are grilled just as they were in 1936, which keeps the regulars coming back to 1001 South Main Street.

Camo Caravan

Fueled by a passion for food and the nostalgic desire to create a welcoming spot in the community, best friends Jason Coy and Eric Hardin have been running Camo Caravan in Hopkinsville for the past few years at 622 North Drive. Their approachable, unique menu mostly echoes their favorite childhood meals.

Their dedication to a solid burger includes hand grinding the meat every day for their signature Caravan Burger, which is loaded with toppings and their house made sauce. Kids who love burgers get their own special experience when they order, with a kid sized burger packed inside a retro tin lunchbox.

The Local

Tucked on South Main Street in downtown Hopkinsville is The Local Irish Pub and Kitchen. The two-level dining space serves up drinks and upscale dinners and lunches along with hearty burgers.

With everchanging delectable specials and their consistent burger bar on the menu, people will find options like their Beer Cheese Double Smash Burger, the Chimichurri Burger topped with pepperjack cheese and sautéed onions, and a French Onion Burger. They also serve a Whiskey Burger and Wagyu Burger.

Peggy Ray’s Soda Shop

Hoptown’s own retro, 1950’s style diner is serving up burgers, pizza, classic milkshakes, floats, and ice cream at 499 North Drive. The interior of Peggy Ray’s Soda Shop reflects the menu which will transport visitors back in time with fun drinks and desserts to go alongside their meal.

Menu items from the grill mash up a variety of ingredients in a themed burger selection which includes the Beach Boys Burger with grilled pineapple, onion, cheese, and teriyaki sauce, or their John Wayne Burger with ham, turkey and bacon. They also offer The Clint Eastwood, The Rizzo, and The Luther which replaces the buns with a donut.

Smashburger Central

Just outside of Hopkinsville in Oak Grove is Smashburger Central who serves up made-from-scratch burgers, desserts and custom drinks. Opening in the summer of 2024 at 15153 Fort Campbell Boulevard, their menu is focused around delicious, crispy, stacked patties.

People can order their burgers in various styles like house, regular, southern, spicy, or kitchen sink style. For those that prefer it their way, they also offer free toppings on every basic smashburger allowing people to load them up and customize it how they wish at no extra cost.
