HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Unique, fun designs constructed from bales of hay are set up now around Christian County for the 4-H Club’s annual Bale Trail.
Mary Anne Garnet, one of three 4-H agents in Christian County, says that this fall the designs are more detailed than ever. Since 2020, the trail has allowed businesses, community partners, and residents to have their own hay bale art set up to show support for the local 4-H club. The trail also lets people in the city explore different parts of Christian County.

“It’s harder than it looks, it’s a lot of work and attention to detail, and it’s so much fun to be creative with the materials,” Garnet said, referencing the fish display she set up outside the extension office.
People following the map around the city will find displays set up as animals, buildings, vehicles, and more. The Bale Trail doubles as both a contest, and fundraiser. An overall winner and social media favorite winner will be revealed, while all registration proceeds directly go to 4-H Club scholarships. These funds allow all kids to have access to club retreats and camps.

The local 4-H club is much more than “cows and cookies”, as they have youth outreach to over 150 kids in the area. They have multiple clubs ranging from livestock, and cooking, to drones and financial management.
