HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Hundreds of Jennie Stuart Health (JSH) employees, physicians and community members gathered the morning of Oct. 13 for a celebration marking JSH’s official affiliation with Deaconess Health System. The event, held in the outdoor space adjacent to the hospital on West 18th Street, was themed “Stronger Together for Western Kentucky.”
The milestone moment highlighted not only the strong legacy of Jennie Stuart Health, but also the excitement for what the future will bring as part of Deaconess. Hospital and community leaders shared remarks of gratitude and optimism while employees cheered, applauded and joined in the celebration.

“This morning was about more than an affiliation, it was about honoring our people,” Jennie Stuart CEO Eric Lee said. “Seeing so many employees gathered together reminded us that they are the heart of this hospital. With Deaconess, we now have even greater opportunities to support them, grow services and ensure our community continues to receive the very best care.”
Deaconess CEO Shawn McCoy added, “Today was a true celebration. The energy and pride we witnessed at Jennie Stuart reflects the strength of this hospital and its people. We are excited to move forward together, combining Jennie Stuart’s tradition of excellent care with Deaconess’ resources and commitment to innovation. The future is very bright for Western Kentucky.”
The affiliation allows Jennie Stuart Health to maintain its local heritage while gaining the support of Deaconess’ broader network. Together, the organizations will focus on expanding specialty services, recruiting providers and making new investments in technology and facilities—all while preserving the compassionate, patient-focused care Jennie Stuart is known for.
