HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Back2Back Foundation was able to serve more local families than ever this Christmas by distributing gifts just over 100 families and 250 kids in Christian County and the surrounding area. Founded by country singer/songwriter and Hopkinsville native Brice Long, the nonprofit also funded gift programs for several local nonprofits and organizations including Grace and Mercy, Redeemed and Restored, PADD Forgotten Angels, Trace Industries, FOP Lodge #12 Shop with a Cop and Cumberland Hall.

“The most rewarding part of this program is seeing how our community comes together to lift up local families,” Back2Back Chairman Brent Gilkey told Christian County Now. “These gifts do more than brighten Christmas morning, they show families that they are not alone, and that our community truly looks out for one another.”

Gilkey went on to explain that planning for the holiday season starts around the late summer each year, giving them time to coordinate volunteers, organize donations, and identify families who may need support. Gilkey said this year’s success is credited to that hard work and preparation, paired with the generosity of doners.

Back in July, Brice Long held his annual benefit concert at the Alhambra Theater in Hopkinsville, where he performed alongside Trannie Anderson, Marv Green, and Ryan Larkins to raise money for the Christmas project. This year’s concert was significant as it marked the 20th anniversary, with around $100,000 raised each year.

“The Back2Back Foundation exists to wrap families in our community with hope, especially during the holiday season, when the weight and financial stress can feel overwhelming,” said a public statement from Back2Back. “There were countless tears and so much joy as we met the families and witnessed the blessings they received this Christmas.”

In addition to the Christmas gifts, throughout the year they have been very present in the Christian County and local communities by making financial contributions to Challenge House, Rotary Club Hopkinsville, Pennyroyal Hospice, Helping Hands of Trigg Co, Cadiz Rotary Club, Alpha Pregnancy Care Center, Todd Co Resource Youth Service Centers, Christian Co Long Term Flood Recovery, Helping Cool our Community, Pennyroyal Arts Council, CCPS Education Foundation, Walk to end Alzheimer’s, Christian Co Public Schools Back to School, Boys & Girls Club of Hopkinsville and the Trigg County Veterans Day Brunch.
