HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Racer Academy, a dual credit program for local students, held their first day of classes on Jan. 12. Located on the Murray State University campus in Hopkinsville, junior and senior high school students with Christian County Public Schools now have a chance to receive college credits through various courses.

MSU says the offered courses help students get a step ahead in their college careers, giving them an opportunity to earn college credits while fulfilling high school course requirements. CCPS made the partnership announcement last spring, with Superintendent Chris Bentzel previously stating that the program will provide students with multiple opportunities to tailor their coursework and postsecondary goals.

“This dual credit opportunity will empower high school students to jumpstart their college education, saving time and money while gaining a valuable Murray State experience at the Hopkinsville campus,” said Director of the MSU Hopkinsville Regional Campus, Shannon Slate in March.

For the spring 2026 semester, 45 CCPS students were able to enroll in various introduction courses that are generally offered to college freshmen. This includes communications, English, computer science, history, and music. Additional math and humanities courses will be available during the fall semester. Agriculture classes offered at the high school campuses also offer college credits.

To be admitted into the Racer program, students must meet the GPA requirements. Courses cost $97 a credit hour with some scholarships available. Find out more information about future registration on the Murray State University Racer Academy website.
