HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – For over a decade, locally owned and operated Casey Jones Distillery has been in Hopkinsville with their signature moonshine, bourbon and whiskey that uses Christian County grown ingredients. Early into the new year, the distillery has confirmed that owners are stepping down from day-to-day operations as they sell the business.
During the monthly Pennyrile Area Development District meeting on Jan. 12, Community Development Specialist Brian Jones announced that B3 Beverage LLC out of Pennsylvania is purchasing all membership interest of Steelworks LLC, which is Casey Jones Distillery. This sale includes branding, equipment, inventory, real estate and assumption of all existing debt.
Casey Jones owner Peg Hays confirmed the sale in a statement on social media saying, “We know this is right. The right time, the right people and we trust the path we’re on…B3 is positioned to take what we’ve built and carry it to the next level; the level AJ and I always dreamed of, worked for, and hoped our team would someday get to enjoy. And now they will.”
Hays assured patrons that the name, the history, and the craft will stay despite the new ownership. She explained that this will give the brand more opportunity to grow with greater market reach and product development opportunities along with tourism growth and support behind the scenes.
The PADD office has merit in the sale due to a loan they have on the current property. Board members voted payoff the $194,000 remaining on the loan, saying that they will execute a new note going forward with the new buyer.
