HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The construction team working at the new Christian County High School site has shared a look inside the progress at the school, with CCPS sharing a few details about security features that will be installed soon at the campus. With interior finishes now the focus, construction is estimated to be finished by the end of April.

An Alliance Corporation representative gave a presentation at the Jan. 15 school board meeting, saying that they are “coming into the home stretch” with construction, with around 100 workers on the site every day. Progress photos show concrete that was poured for large steps in the school’s common area, as well as drywall going up in the band, choir, and arts entrance. He also showed grid installation in the Academy of Health and Community Services and the most recent progress at the gym.

Board members approved the purchase of just over 300 security cameras that will be installed inside and outside of the school. This includes hallways, classrooms, and the exterior. This purchase is included in the technology budget for construction. Assistant Superintendent Jason Wilson explained that storage is included in the $200,000 investment, and they will utilize the district’s current video management system.

During the meeting they also approved the budgeted purchases for digital and analog clocks that will be installed in the school as well as the smart boards for the classrooms.

On the exterior, two parking lots now have blacktop poured, with roads around the campus starting to take shape. Crews will wait as long as possible to put the last coats of asphalt down to keep the roads pristine for the start of the new school year.
