HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The City of Hopkinsville will host a public town hall meeting on Feb. 18 to gather community feedback on the future of Bluegrass Splash, which is currently in need of extensive repairs.
The Hopkinsville City Council was presented with these issues during a meeting in December, where it was also confirmed that regardless of a decision, the water park will be closed for the 2026 season. Councilmembers are exploring several possible paths forward, including possibly investing around $4 million to repair and reopen the waterpark.
Other options include closing the facility or pursuing alternative uses for the property. No decision has been made, and community input will play an important role in helping inform next steps, according to a news release from the city.
Issues stemmed at the water park immediately after it opened, with Hopkinsville Public Works providing an extensive timeline of repairs dating back to 2008 which are believed to be the result of “bad workmanship” from the initial contractors. After lengthy discussions by the Hopkinsville Committee of the Whole in January, it was decided that residents would be invited to give feedback at a public town hall meeting.
Community members are invited to attend the town hall meeting on Feb. 18 at 5 p.m. at Hopkinsville City Hall to learn more about the current condition of the facility, ask questions, and share their thoughts.
