CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Vickie Louise Shelton, 66, of Elkton passed away Sunday March 8. According to her obituary from Latham Funeral Home & Cremations, Shelton was born on Sept. 7, 1959, in Todd County, and was employed by the Christian County Animal Shelter for over a decade.
She advocated for the areas of spay and neuter programs, with her love of animals deep rooted by her father who loves his hunting dogs. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christian County Animal Shelter, Spay & Neuter Program.
A public statement from the Christian County Animal Shelter about her passing says, “Her work was never just a job; it was a calling. Whether she was feeding a stray, rescuing a frightened pet, or simply sitting quietly beside a loyal companion in need of comfort, Vickie had a remarkable way of making the world a little gentler for the animals in her care…Although we are deeply saddened by her loss, her legacy of compassion will continue to live on in the lives she touched and the countless animals she helped along the way.”
Services will be Thursday March 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Latham Funeral Home with Rev Jerry Sweeney and Rev. Visitation will be Wednesday March 11, 2026 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday March 12, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour all at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton.
