OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A locally produced horror film inspired by Oak Grove history is moving closer to release, with the first trailer for “Ghost Bridge” debuting Friday.

The independent film, directed by Oak Grove filmmaker Lee Joshua Robles-Sanchez, is scheduled to be released in October. The project is produced through his production company, Reach4ThaSkyFilmz.

The release of the “Ghost Bridge” trailer marks the first public look at the film ahead of its planned October premiere.

“Ghost Bridge” is based on stories tied to a reportedly haunted bridge in Oak Grove and draws from local accounts dating back to the 1960s. According to Sanchez, the film adapts those stories for the screen while incorporating fictional elements.

Oak Grove, Hopkinsville talent featured

Sanchez previously told Christian County Now he chose to cast locally because of the area’s history and untapped talent.

“I decided to cast in Oak Grove because as a member of my community for 30 plus years, I believe we have a lot of history and stories that need to be told to the world,” Sanchez said.

In March 2025, Sanchez held an opening casting call at Valor Hall Conference & Event Center in Oak Grove to find local talent. The film will also feature a special appearance by actor and film producer James Stokes, a former Hopkinsville High School student.

Sanchez’s production company has worked on several projects in the past. His documentary “NitosLand” explored the story of a motorcycle club founded in Oak Grove by twin brothers and examined the local motorcycle community.

Filming locations around Oak Grove

Production for the film took place at recognizable locations around Oak Grove.

The Oak Grove School House was used to represent scenes set in the 1960s, while Carter Road Bridge served as a primary filming location for scenes depicting the present day.

Community involvement played a major role in the production. The director also thanked Oak Grove Tourism Executive Director Traci Cunningham for helping host auditions and support the project.

Growing film activity in western Kentucky

Christian County has seen increasing film activity in recent years. In August 2025, the county joined the West Kentucky Film Commission, connecting Hollywood to Hopkinsville.

The area has already hosted several productions. The horror movie titled “Scarytales & Deadtime Stories” was filmed in historic homes in Hopkinsville and released locally in fall 2024. Another project, “The Wedding Suite,” wrapped filming in January 2026 at Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel.
