HOPKINSVILLE, KY – The Pennyroyal Arts Council invites the community to Picnic with the Pops: The KY Derby Edition. Celebrate the 152nd Kentucky Derby in style while supporting the arts during a special fundraising event on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the historic Alhambra Theatre in downtown Hopkinsville.
Presented with support from Signature Sponsor Planters Bank, this festive evening will combine the excitement of the “Run for the Roses” with live music, Derby-inspired food and drinks, and community celebration, all benefiting the Pennyroyal Arts Council and its programs.
Doors will open at 4:30 p.m., with the Kentucky Derby post time expected around 5:57 p.m. Guests will enjoy Derby viewing on the big screen before the evening continues with a high-energy after-party concert from 7:00–9:00 p.m. featuring Saved By The Music – The Ultimate 90’s Experience.
In addition to the race-day festivities, guests will have the opportunity to browse and bid on a curated silent auction featuring unique works of art, allowing patrons to take home one-of-a-kind pieces while supporting the arts in the community.
The event will also feature special inaugural awards presentations, including the PACI Volunteer of the Year Award and the Champion of the Alhambra Award, recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to the arts and the historic theatre.
Guests are encouraged to arrive in classic Derby attire, including hats, bow ties, and festive race-day fashion. Multiple ticket experiences are available, including:
- “Millionaire’s Row” in The Hall – $75: Includes Derby buffet, a signature vintage racing glass with cocktail, Derby viewing, and access to the after-party concert.
- Cocktail Tables in the Auditorium – $250 for four tickets: Includes Derby viewing and the after-party concert, with an optional, add-on pre-order box meal for $18.
- “The Jockey Club” Radiator Lounge – $500 (capacity: 8): Includes box meal, Derby viewing, and concert access.
- “The Grandstand” Reserved Seating – $35: Includes Derby viewing and the after-party concert, with an optional, add-on pre-order box meal for $18.
- After-party Concert Only – $25 The concert begins at 7 PM, with doors opening at 6:30 PM.:
Cash bars and specialty Derby cocktails, including the classic Mint Julep and The Lily, will be available throughout the evening. An exclusive ticket pre-sale begins March 16, 2026, with tickets opening to the public on Thursday, April 2, 2026.
