OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Sanctuary Inc. received a donation from the United States Harness Drivers Club on March 30 after a special Charity Day race at Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel.
“A big thank you to the drivers and members of the USHDC, who donate their earnings from amateur races to charitable causes like this, continuing their long tradition of giving back through the sport,” said a statement from Oak Grove Harness Racing.
Sanctuary Inc. is a Hopkinsville nonprofit agency that provides services and shelter for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. Although they are based locally, they serve the entire Pennyrile region.
According to a news release from USHDC, this is just one of several charitable beneficiaries that will benefit from the generosity of the club during the Oak Grove meet, which continues through mid-July.
“Our Amateur Club has been rewarding worthwhile charitable organizations for about 30 years now and it is an honor for us, through the generosity of our members, to continue to recognize the necessity to help those in dire need because of these unforeseen circumstances and, at the same time showcase what harness racing can do for local communities and far beyond,” said USHDC President Dein Spriggs in a news release.
