PEMBROKE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Joe Tandy Rives, age 77, of Pembroke, passed away on Sunday, April 5 at his home surrounded by his family of natural causes.

Born in Hopkinsville on February 19, 1949, Joe was a United States Army Veteran and was a self-employed electrician at Rives Electric, according to his obituary. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon.

He loved trains, old westerns, and golfing and was a raging Tiger fan for HHS Sports where all three of his children graduated from even though he was a Christian County High School graduate himself. He served on the Pembroke City Council, a former member of the Pembroke Ruritan, and a former member of Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department. He was also known for being part of the Pembroke Lookout Team.

“Joe was a former Assistant Chief with our department and contributed significantly to our growth and development. Our heartfelt condolences are with his family,” said a statement from the Pembroke Fire Department.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11 at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Bro. Brandon Boone officiating and burial to follow in Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, April 10 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
