CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A carjacking that occurred Sunday night in Crofton involved two escaped inmates from the Christian County Jail who fled from law enforcement through multiple counties before their arrest.
In a news release, KSP says dispatch was notified of a carjacking and assault incident on April 12 at the Family Dollar/Dollar Tree in Crofton. At the time, Christian County Dispatch told troopers that the incident involved two Christian County Jail inmates who walked away from work detail a short time before.
Troopers were able to locate the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the Western Kentucky Parkway near the 60 mile-marker. The driver, 30-year-old Elijah Boodoosignh of Hopkinsville, refused to stop and fled northbound on the parkway at high speeds. There were two passengers in the vehicle including another inmate, 39-year-old James Stull of Covington, Kentucky.
KSP says the pursuit continued through Muhlenberg, Ohio, and Grayson counties, where the vehicle was ultimately stopped near the 108 mile-marker. Assisting agencies utilized a tire deflation device, successfully stopping the vehicle.
Stull was charged with escape 2nd degree while and the female passenger is not facing any charges.
Boodoosignh was charged with fleeing or evading police, 1st degree in a motor vehicle; speeding 26 mph or greater on a limited access road; reckless driving; wanton endangerment 1st degree; fleeing or evading police 2nd degree; resisting arrest; possession of marijuana; possession of alcohol beverage in a motor vehicle; license to be in possession; and escape 2nd degree.
Boodoosignh was lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center, and Stull was transported back to the Christian County Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing and is being led by Trooper Travis Vandrew U/711 and Trooper Tyler Hancock U/344.
