HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Due to impending weather, the Thin Blue Run scheduled for Saturday, April 18 has been postponed. The event has been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 29, and all event times will remain the same.

The Hopkinsville Police Department will still run the length of Christian County, around 34 miles, to raise awareness for Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

As officers pass through Hopkinsville around 11:00 a.m., the community is invited to join a short walk from the Police Department to Founders Square. At Founders Square, there will be booths, food, and festivities, and citizens are encouraged to come out during their lunch hour to cheer on the officers as they continue their run toward Oak Grove.

The event will conclude at Valor Hall in Oak Grove at 3:00 p.m., where a brief ceremony will take place. During the ceremony, proceeds from the event will be presented to the Pennyrile Child Advocacy Center and Sanctuary, Inc. In addition, all sponsors will be recognized, and a special award will be presented to the event’s largest sponsor.

“We are disappointed to postpone, but we look forward to seeing the community come together on April 29 to support this important cause,” said Chief Newby.

The City of Hopkinsville thanks everyone for their understanding, flexibility, and continued support. Community members are encouraged to come out, show their support, and stand together against abuse in our community.
