HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Hopkinsville Art Guild is recruiting local artists to submit plans for permanent public art instillations at the Hopkinsville Greenway.

“The goal is to create innovative, thoughtful artwork that also may reflect local culture, nature, agriculture, and history of the Pennyrile region,” says a news release from the Hopkinsville Art Guild. “We are seeking works by various artists, working in many materials and techniques. Our efforts will transform our Greenway trail from simply being a walking trail, into an experience of beauty and communication.”

Mediums for interested artists could include mosaic tiles, metal, glass, wood, stone, concrete, or paint. These materials may be used to create sculptures, murals, footpaths, or functional art such as benches that will withstand outdoor conditions.

Artists must create a design plan that would be incorporated at one of the three Greenway trail head locations in Hopkinsville and submit it to the selection committee. If chosen, the artist will be responsible for fabricating and installing the work as well as establishing a maintenance plan. Entrees can be submitted through May 31 with an allotted budget of up to $5,000.

Find a detailed breakdown of requirements and the submission process on the Hopkinsville Art Guild website.
