HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A Hopkinsville teenager on an electric bike was injured in a vehicle collision Saturday afternoon.
On July 18 just before 12:30 p.m., Hopkinsville Police responded to a wreck involving a 13-year-old riding an electric bike on the roadway. A collision report from HPD says the e-bike was traveling east on Country Club Lane attempting to turn left onto Cox Mill Road when it was struck by a passenger vehicle.
The operator of the vehicle told officers they were travelling straight on the roadway around 35 mph when the bike pulled out in front of their vehicle. Payton Rogers with Hopkinsville Fire/EMS specified that the vehicle struck the bike head on while it was traveling 20 mph, which caused the teenager to eject from the bike. He complained of lower leg pain and had an open wound in non-critical condition.
The minor was transported by Hopkinsville EMS to Vanderbilt Clarksville for medical treatment.
