HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Over a dozen vehicles participated in the Nationwide Stop the Violence Jeep Ride throughout the streets of the city this past weekend, marking the first year that the Hopkinsville Jeep Club took part in the event on a local level.
“While this is a nationwide event taking place in communities across the country, Hopkinsville Jeep Club is honored to join the movement locally by helping shine a light on an issue that affects us all,” said a statement from the Hopkinsville Jeep Club.
On July 19, participants met at 12 p.m. at Hopkinsville Community College before taking off together, escorted by public safety officers with HPD. The goal was to raise awareness for violence prevention on a broad scale including those impacted by gun violence, domestic violence, child abuse, bullying and all forms of violence that impacts the community and families.
A parade of Jeeps made their way through neighborhoods, with orange flags and signs displayed to promote their message of unity, hope and positive change to onlookers.
“We may not be able to change the world in one day, but we can come together as a community and let people know they are not alone. Every conversation, every act of kindness, and every person who shows up makes a difference,” said Courtney Bobbett, president of the Hopkinsville Jeep Club.
