HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A passionate group of firefighters, police officers, and EMS personnel with the Kentucky Brotherhood are bicycling 400 miles through western Kentucky to honor fallen first responders.
This journey took the parade of riders through Christian County Thursday morning. They took time to visit the memorial in Hopkinsville to honor Officer Phillip Meacham alongside HPD. They have already passed through Paducah, Land Between the Lakes and Trigg County before the dozens of riders were escorted by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office through the area.
For over five years, this growing group has made long treks across Kentucky to honor those who have died, alongside family members who have been impacted. The nonprofit also accepts donations throughout the year to offer financial support to affected families.
This year, the ride is specifically honoring the following fallen first responders.
- Sergeant George Ramirez: Kentucky Department of Corrections
- Retired Rescue Chief Charles W. Shaw: Campbellsville-Taylor County Fire Department
- Major Leslie Roger Leatherman: Laurel County Fire Department
- Paramedic Wesley England: Nelson County EMS
- Sergeant Ryan Hudson: Paducah Police Department
- Lieutenant Brian Hatt: Raywick Volunteer Fire Department
- Firefighter Arthur Henley: Rolling Fork Fire Department
Represented this year are riders from emergency departments all the way from Louisville, to Danville, Bowling Green and more. During their rides, they often stop at various cities and meet with families of first responders.
