HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – People will have the opportunity to have a first look at potential plans to redevelop a portion of West Seventh Street in Hopkinsville during a community workshop on July 30.
The meeting will be held at the Hopkinsville Municipal Center at 5 p.m., and participants will be able to see the concepts for improving traffic flow, beautifying the corridor, along with adding landscaping and decorative lighting, according to a statement from the City of Hopkinsville. A visualization of the proposed roundabout at Seventh and Ninth Street will also be presented.
During a budget forum in March, Hopkinsville Mayor James R. Knight expressed his interest in redeveloping this area between Taco Bell on North Drive and the Christian County Justice Center in an attempt to make it more walkable. Currently, he says light poles block portions of the sidewalk, which makes it challenging for people to pass through.
The public will be able to ask question and share feedback about the plans as well as learn more about what is being considered. This meeting is only intended to relay information to the public; no decision will be made by city officials during the workshop.
