HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – 4,100 soldiers, military families and veterans were able to receive free food during Fort Care’s Honor Package Grocery Giveaway. On Aug. 7 hundreds of cars lined up at the U.S. Army Military Base Parade Field on Fort Campbell, and groceries were distributed by volunteers.
“We are incredibly grateful to the many soldiers who volunteered their time to help us pack and load groceries into hundreds of vehicles as families drove through to receive their packages,” said a statement from Fort Care. “A special thank-you to Liberty Chapel and the Veteran Pastors who generously provided tables and pop-up tents, helping us create an organized and welcoming space to bag and load the groceries.”
The local nonprofit is led by Ron Fahy, and they are committed to serving military families. They frequently host grocery giveaways throughout the year as well as supporting the military through various events.
