HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – After operating for three months this season, the downtown farmers market in Hopkinsville has announced they are ending the season early for a second year in a row.
“Unfortunately, we are closing the market for the year,” said a statement from the Hopkinsville-Christian County Downtown Farmers Market. “Thank you to everyone that has supported the market and thank you to the vendors that have made the market possible.”
The last market was held on Aug. 8 with only a couple of vendors in attendance, and there will be no additional dates for this year. It was initially anticipated that the market would extend through September. This year marked the first time that the market was held on Saturday mornings, instead of their previous Thursday evening schedule to boost vendor and community participation.
In 2025, produce in Christian County was negatively impacted by weather, beginning with the floods during the spring and ending with a major heatwave. This left the only participating produce vendor with nothing to sell and prompted an early end to the season.
Organizers went into this season hoping to attract additional vendors, specifically produce.
