HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Rodeo competitors took over the Western Kentucky State Fairgrounds Friday as the Christian County Cattlemen’s Association hosted the 27th Annual Lone Star Rodeo 27th annual rodeo.
The event featured a variety of competitions, with riders taking part in bull riding, bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping, breakaway roping and barrel racing. The crowd was able to enjoy watching trick roping and whip-cracking performances, while the night was also packed with activities for children, including a kids’ gold rush and a best-dressed cowboy and cowgirl contest.
The Lone Star Rodeo began in Marfa, Texas and later moved to Franklin, Tennessee. In 2003, the company’s headquarters moved to a 660-acre ranch in Crofton, Kentucky. Today, Lone Star Rodeo travels across the country for rodeo events.
This specific event in Hopkinsville event also supports the Cattlemen’s Association’s scholarship program. The organization awarded over a dozen scholarships this year to students continuing their education.
The final night of the rodeo is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 15, at 7:30 p.m. at the Western Kentucky State Fairgrounds.
