HOPKINSVLLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A Hopkinsville woman was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor after a drug investigation by Hopkinsville Police Department.
The suspect had dropped off her child at Christian County High School with a strong odor of marijuana, according to police reports. Administrators from the school contacted the woman to come pick her child up. The suspect was told by law enforcement that they would be coming to her house due to the strong odor to make sure the child wasn’t in any danger.
The woman ran to her vehicle and quickly left the school parking lot. When officers arrived at her house, marijuana was found in the child’s room on top of a dresser. A vape containing THC, a smoking pipe on the floor, a digital scale and a gun case was also found underneath a bed.
Police say the woman raked the marijuana off the dresser to destroy it. She began to scream and was told multiple times to lower her voice.
She was charged and arrested with second-degree disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, endangering the welfare of a minor, and tampering with physical evidence.
The child claimed the items found were his, and he was cited and released to his brother per DCBS, reports say.
