HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A Severe Thunderstorm Watch and a Flood Watch are currently in place for Christian County Thursday morning after overnight storms cut through the region.

The National Weather Service has issued both alerts, with the Flood Watch expiring at 7 a.m. and the Thunderstorm Watch only lasting through 5 a.m. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

As of 3:30 a.m., the bulk of the severe storms have already passed through, with the main threat being heavy rain and damaging wind gusts.

Overnight, NWS reported winds ranging from 60 to 80 mph, with extreme weather and winds up to 100 mph occurring in the area of Graves County.
