HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A Hopkinsville man has donated his award to The Boys and Girls Club after winning Professional Driver of the Year contest through his company.

Kenneth Tolliver, who has lived in Hopkinsville for the past 15 years, was named grand champion of the National Tank Truck Carriers 2022-2023 Professional Driver of the Year, a contest sponsored by Great West Casualty Company. The winner gets to select a charity that would be awarded $2,500.

Tolliver has been a truck driver for 23 years and is over 3 million miles accident free with G&D Trucking / Hoffman Transportation of Channahon, Illinois. His granddaughter who is now 12 years old, has been going to the Hopkinsville Boys and Girls Club since she was 6.

“I am honored by the award I received but my greatest honor is being able to give back to my community,” said Tolliver.

With the donation, The Boys and Girls Club plans to use the money for the total teen takeover initiative, explains Executive Director Terrence Davis. “We are trying to increase the number of teens that we serve every day after school,” Davis said.

The Boys and Girls club is in the process of expanding their teen center by adding a 2,000- square-foot teen “FabLab.” The FabLab will give teens access to new technologies and opportunities.

“We are honored Mr. Tolliver has selected The Boys and Girls Club,” Davis said. “All the good things we do for the boys and girls here can’t be done without the support from the community.”
