HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force shared details about a recent multi-agency drug operation that led to the arrest of two people from Hopkinsville last week. The arrests came after a collaboration with their aviation unit, Homeland Security in Bowling Green, and Kentucky State Police Interdiction Team.
On Wednesday, Aug. 19 these agencies conducted a controlled delivery of a parcel from a commercial shipping provider in Logan County to a location in the city of Sharon Grove. The parcel contained 44 pounds of crystal methamphetamine that had a street value of over $1 million, according to a news release.
Two suspects from Hopkinsville took possession of the parcel and were arrested during a traffic stop. They are identified as 49-year-old Steven Caldwell and 45-year-old Amanda Tanner and were arrested by KSP and were taken to the Todd County Detention Center in Elkton. The booking log shows that both suspects are facing drug trafficking charges.
South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force Director Jacky Hunt stated that this major seizure has struck a blow to the drug dealers in the area. The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible.
