HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Beginning Sept. 1 Hopkinsville Solid Waste Enterprise will transition from weekly bulk item collection to a bi-monthly collection schedule for residential sanitation customers.
The adjustment is being made as part of ongoing efforts to control operational costs while maintaining affordable sanitation rates for customers.
“Like many public service providers, we continuously evaluate our operations to ensure we are delivering quality services in the most cost-effective manner possible,” said Bryan Silver, Hopkinsville Solid Waste General Manager. “This change allows us to continue providing bulk item collection while helping manage costs and minimize impacts on customer rates.”
Under the new schedule, customers will be assigned collection weeks based on their regular garbage pickup day:
- Customers with Monday or Tuesday garbage service will receive bulk item collection during the first and third weeks of each month.
- Customers with Thursday or Friday garbage service will receive bulk item collection during the second and fourth weeks of each month.
- Wednesday routes will be divided as follows:
- First and third week: Millbrooke Dr, Great Oaks Dr, Donna Dr, Deepwood Dr, Irish Circle
- Second and fourth week: Stone Valley Dr, Gateway Dr, Wayside Dr, Linda Dr, Cox Mill Estates, All Monts neighborhoods
Customers should place bulk items at the curb on Sunday evening or by 5 a.m. Monday of their designated collection week. Items may be collected at any time during that week’s service window.
Residents are encouraged to review the updated schedule carefully to determine their assigned collection weeks. Information will be distributed through mail notifications, the City’s website, social media channels, and other communication platforms leading up to the implementation date.
Hopkinsville Solid Waste Enterprise appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation as these changes are implemented.
