HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Around 2:40 p.m. on Thursday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported an accident on Clara Drive in Crofton. The roadway was temporarily blocked after a tractor trailer hit both a stop sign and a fire hydrant. The accident caused flooding in nearby yards and ultimately resulted in a Boil Water Advisory due to damage, according to John Godsey with CCSO.
All Hopkinsville Water Environmental Authority customers in Crofton that are located east of the railroad are impacted along with the following areas:
- 104 South Madisonville Street
- 101 West Main Street
- 104 West Princeton Street
- 106 West Princeton Street
- 100 North Madisonville Street
- 106 North Madisonville Street
Just before 6 p.m., HWEA shared that affected customers in Crofton should bring water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or preparing food to a full rolling boil for at least three minutes before use. Bottled water may be used as an alternative.
Customers may have also experienced a temporary loss of service while repairs are completed. According to HWEA, the advisory will remain in effect until the repair is complete, required water-quality samples have been collected and analyzed, and testing confirms that the water is safe for consumption. HWEA will issue a notice when the boil water advisory has been lifted.
