HOPKINSVILLE, KY – On Wednesday, Christian County High School Executive Principal Ken Carver announced head coaches for Christian County High School. David Knight will lead the Archery team, Chuck Marquess will serve as the Bass Fishing Coach, Boys Tennis will be led by Doug Hargrove, Jenniffer Joiner will lead the Girls Tennis team, and Jessica Caudill has been named as the Track Coach.
“We are excited to welcome these five outstanding coaches to our school community,” said Executive Principal Ken Carver. “Each brings a strong passion for developing students, a commitment to excellence, and a desire to build something special at Christian County High School. With these hires, our coaching staff is now complete. Their leadership will help shape successful athletic programs and support the growth, character, and well-being of every student we serve.”
David Knight – Archery Coach
A 1988 graduate of Hopkinsville High School and a 22-year Air Force veteran, David Knight moved to Anderson County, Kentucky, following his retirement in 2013. He began coaching that year as an assistant for his son’s middle school archery team, taking over as head coach in 2016. Under his leadership, the Anderson County program earned numerous state, national, and world titles, with several archers going on to compete internationally with Team USA.
Knight returned to Christian County in 2020 to be closer to family, and in 2023 took over the archery program within the schools, working to grow the archery program in Christian County. Between the high school and the two middle school archery programs there are now a combined 292 archers signed up for 2026–2027.
Knight’s coaching philosophy centers on an all-grades approach, and he hopes to see every one of his archers earn a scholarship, noting there are more archery scholarships available than archers to fill them.
Chuck Marquess – Bass Fishing Coach
Chuck Marquess grew up in South Florida and spent much of his childhood on Lake Okeechobee, where he developed his love for bass fishing. His family later moved to the coast, introducing him to saltwater fishing and several years of experience in a new environment.
Marquess attended Murray State University, where he played football, and went on to spend about four years coaching high school football in Hopkins County. His passion for coaching eventually led him to bass fishing, and he has had the privilege of coaching the sport in Christian County for more than 10 years.
One of his favorite parts of coaching is working with young athletes and watching them grow, both as competitors and as individuals. Outside of coaching, he enjoys following high school athletics and supporting student-athletes in the community.
Marquess is looking forward to working with this new group of Tigers and is excited for another great season on the water.
Doug Hargrove – Boys Tennis Coach
Doug Hargrove brings 20 years of high school coaching experience to his role as Boys Tennis Coach, including 14 years coaching volleyball, six years coaching golf, and two years coaching tennis. He currently serves as the CCHS Girls Golf Coach.
A 1982 graduate of Trigg County High School, Hargrove went on to earn his degree from Murray State University in 1988. He works as Community Services Coordinator at Western State Hospital.
Coach Hargrove and his wife, Mindy, reside in Trigg County.
Jenniffer Joiner – Girls Tennis Coach
Jenniffer Joiner was born and raised in Christian County and is proud to call this community home. She is beginning her 18th year teaching with Christian County Public Schools and her 7th year coaching tennis.
Joiner is excited to serve as the Head Girls Tennis Coach at the new Christian County High School. Her goal is to build a competitive program where players work hard, improve, support one another, and take pride in representing CCHS.
She looks forward to bringing students together, building new traditions, and seeing what the future holds for CCHS Girls Tennis.
Joiner is married and has four children.
Jessica Caudill – Track Coach
A native of Christian County and 2005 CCHS graduate, Jessica Caudill went on to the University of Louisville, where she competed as a hammer and weight thrower and helped the Cardinals win three consecutive NCAA women’s championship titles.
Caudill returned to Hopkinsville in 2016, joining the Hopkinsville High track team as an assistant before being named head coach in 2023. Under her leadership, the girls program earned top-three regional finishes, and the HHS boys team claimed its first regional championship in school history in 2026, with multiple athletes reaching the podium at the KHSAA state meets.
Coach Caudill resides in Crofton with her husband, Josh, and their three children.
Christian County Public Schools held a press conference on Wednesday morning to welcome Knight, Marquess, Hargrove, Joiner, and Caudill.
